Turning a public-health debate into member briefings

A landmark health advisory generated more than 1,750 articles within days. A beverage alliance needed to explain the narrative, the voices behind it and the policy implications. Genie reduced the volume to 376 unique relevant pieces and retained the analysis for future briefings.

A major advisory changed the debate within days.

A global beverage alliance needed to brief member companies on a fast-moving health and consumption debate. When a major national health authority issued a landmark advisory, more than 1,750 articles appeared within days.

The alliance needed to know how the issue was being framed, where the coverage was gaining traction and which stakeholders were shaping it. Its previous classification process depended on one consultant and a set of fragmented tools.

The data had to connect narratives with the people driving them.

TSC configured the intelligence base around the alliance's core questions. Genie ingested global news, health and policy publications, and social activity from more than 80 stakeholder handles. The configured workflow organised signals by relevance, sentiment and geography, then linked them to the people and organisations behind the debate.

This created a common record for media coverage, stakeholder positions, emerging campaigns and regulatory developments. New material entered the same analytical structure rather than starting another manual research exercise.

Classification turned volume into a reusable capability.

Using the configured classification process, the team narrowed more than 1,750 articles to 376 unique pieces relevant to the framing under review. Analysts used the retained dataset and Ask Genie to investigate geographic differences, prominent voices and the policy implications. The findings became a rapid-response report for member companies.

The capability continued through weekly and monthly reporting, stakeholder monitoring and event and regulatory horizon scanning. Analysts could compare a new campaign or policy proposal with the narratives and actors already in the record.

The searchable history kept narratives, sources, stakeholders and analytical judgements connected. The next briefing could start from that context without treating each media spike as a separate project.
